This was such an interesting book! From his early childhood Alexander Graham Bell was fascinated by sounds, and ways to communicate with sound. He learned from his speech therapist father and his almost-deaf mother. As an adult he met Thomas Watson and together they invented the telephone, surely one of the greatest inventions to come out of the Age of Invention. But Alex didn't stop there, he went on to create the June Bug, the first plane to prove human beings could fly, and the hydrodome, the fastest boat of its time. His life wasn't always easy, but he often used hardship to inspire ways to improve the lives of others. The artwork is engaging and there are fascinating notes accompanying the story along the way. -- Susan (RBB Staff)
