2022 Read in Color Book Drive

The Read in Color Book Drive runs from May 2 - May 20

CAPI USA, a nonprofit providing resources to refugees, immigrants, and underserved communities of color, is hosting their second annual Read in Color book drive. Read in Color® is a new initiative bringing diverse books to Little Free Library book-sharing boxes around the world.

Read in Color distributes books that provide perspectives on racism and social justice; celebrate BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized voices; and incorporate experiences from all identities for all readers. CAPI is a steward of 2 of these boxes and they need your help to keep their little shelves stocked!

To purchase books for the drive at 20% off, use coupon code READINCOLOR at checkout and select pick-up at store (Red Balloon will deliver all donated books to the folks at CAPI).

For book suggestions, you can visit Red Balloon lists included below or visit Read in Color's recommendations page!

Read in Color is a new initiative bringing diverse books to Little Free Library book-sharing boxes around the world. Kicking off in the Twin Cities, Read in Color distributes books that provide perspectives on racism and social justice; celebrate BIPOC, LGBTQ, and other marginalized voices; and incorporate experiences from all identities for all readers.

CAPI helps immigrants, refugees, and people of color connect with the resources they need to build established, happy lives. CAPI provides job training, financial coaching and education, community gardening programming, a culturally specific food shelf, and so much more. The CAPI mission is to guide refugees, immigrants, and communities in the journey toward self-determination and social equality.
