Job Title: Book Fair Coordinator at Red Balloon Bookshop in St. Paul, MN
Position Type: Part time 
Start Date:  Feb. 5, 2020

Red Balloon Bookshop is looking for an individual who is organized, self-directed, and has a passion for kid’s books to join our bookselling team. This individual will work with local schools to provide carefully and thoughtfully curated book fairs and work with the Red Balloon leadership team to grow this part of our business. Candidates must have a passion for and knowledge of children’s books, love working with people, and have the ability to deliver excellent customer service.

This position is part-time and seasonal (coincides with the school year) with the potential to add hours and responsibilities. 

Candidates applying for this position must have the following skills and characteristics:
Knowledge of current trends in children’s books
A positive and professional attitude
Enjoy working with kids
Strong communication skills with customers and staff
Ability to multi-task 
Proactive problem solver
Physically able to lift and move 30 lb boxes
Ability to transport books and travel to schools in the Twin Cities Metro Area
Proficient with Google Docs
Familiarity with our POS (Anthology and Square) or a willingness to learn
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Communicate with educators and parent volunteers during all aspects of the book fair
Maintain book fair documents, including contracts and spreadsheets
Develop a core list of titles for each book fair season
Buy all book fair stock
Oversee packing of books
Coordinate return process at end of each book fair season with Inventory Manager
Reconcile sales with inventory
Give book talks, at schools and in-store to students, parents, and educators
Order and purchase equipment and supplies, as needed
Assist Event Manager with Authors in Schools program
Work occasional bookselling shifts in the store
 
This is an hourly position. Includes PTO, an annual bonus, and a generous employee discount.
