This Indian Kid is at once a love letter to Eddie Chuculate's Native American roots and an inspiring and essential message for young readers everywhere who are coming of age in an era when conversations about acceptance and empathy, love and perspective are more necessary than ever before. Join Eddie Chuculate as he reads from and shares all about This Indian Kid, then after the event enjoy treats while having your books signed!
To attend: Space is limited, so a ticket is required to attend. You can register for a ticket through September 22, 4:30pm, and preorder the book below. Additional copies of This Indian Kid will be available for purchase during the event.
Signing Guidelines: Following the reading, Eddie Chuculate will sign and personalize copies of his books. If you would prefer not to stay for the signing portion, Red Balloon is happy to have your books signed and personalized for you and will contact you when they're ready to be picked up.
Eddie Chuculate is Creek and Cherokee Indian and originally from Muskogee, Oklahoma. The first story from his collection Cheyenne Madonna won a PEN/O. Henry Prize and was selected by juror Ursula K. Le Guin as her favorite of that year. He won a Wallace Stegner Creative Writing Fellowship at Stanford University and earned a master’s degree at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Chuculate began a journalism career at age 16, while still in high school, and he went on to write and edit for several metro daily newspapers. He has also picked pecans, moved furniture, worked as a day laborer, received food stamps, and sold his plasma. Eddie now resides in downtown Minneapolis.
