Red Balloon Bookshop is hosting a Lunar Ball with Marissa Meyer in celebration of the release of Winter, the heart-stopping conclusion to the bestselling Lunar Chronicles! Your presence is requested on the evening of Wednesday, November 18th, 6:30 pm, at The University Club of St Paul (420 Summit Ave, St Paul, MN) for Lunar Chronicles trivia, activities, giveaways...and to meet Marissa Meyer herself! Formal attire, cosplay, or the official Lunar colors of red, black, and white are strongly encouraged. Join the Resistance and get your Lunar Ball tickets today!

TICKET INFO: This is a ticketed event, presentation, and book signing. Tickets are $26.00 and include one copy of Winter by Marissa Meyer (original price $24.75 w/tax). One ticket per person; underage guests may be accompanied by an adult chaperone (please notify staff at time of ticket purchase)*. Discounts do not apply. Tickets can be purchased in-store or over the phone by calling 651-224-8320. See store hours. Tickets and books will also be available for purchase at the event, though advance purchase is recommended. Any online orders placed for Winter will be for the book only and will not include a ticket for the Lunar Ball on Nov 18.

*As of 11/11, 1:00 pm, our chaperone ticket capacity has been reached and chaperone tickets are no longer available.  All guests must purchase a Lunar Ball ticket to attend.

Tickets and books may be picked up at the store beginning Tuesday, Nov 10 (Winter’s release date) through Tuesday, Nov 17. Tickets and books will also be available at Will Call at The University Club on Wednesday, Nov 18, beginning at 6:00 pm.

LOCATION DETAILS: This event is held in the Summit Room at The University Club of St. Paul, 420 Summit Ave, St Paul, MN. Get directions here. Only on street parking is available; please arrive early. Doors open at 6:00 pm; event start time is 6:30 pm.

SIGNING GUIDELINES: At the time of your ticket purchase, you will be assigned a ticket number. This indicates your place in the signing line. Directly following Marissa Meyer’s presentation and Q&A on Nov 18, signing groups will be called up to wait in line. In addition to the copy of Winter included with each ticket purchase, guests may have an unlimited number of books signed; however, in interest of time, only one book per person may be personalized. These books may be brought from home or purchased from Red Balloon Bookshop, either in advance or at the event. Your support of Red Balloon Bookshop is appreciated. If time allows, ticket holders may have the chance to re-enter the signing line to have additional books personalized.

PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES: Photos are allowed and encouraged; however, due to time restrictions, photos with Marissa Meyer in the signing line may be limited to “unposed” photos only. A Red Balloon team member will be on hand to help take your photo while you meet the author.

CAN'T MAKE IT? If you'd like a personalized book but are unable to make the event, please call us at 651-224-8320 to pre-pay and we'll have one or more copies signed and reserved for you or shipped anywhere in the United States.

Want to enter the Lunar Chronicles Costume Contest?  Registration starts at 6:00 pm!

Costumes will be judged in 3 categories (Originality, Execution, Overall) to be graded on a 1-10 scale (1 is worst, 10 is best).

  1. Originality - Did the contestant use creative materials to make their costume? Did the contestant take a new direction in portraying the character of their costume? Was the costume of a unique character in the series?
  2. Execution - Was the costume very detailed? Does the costume look like the character? Did the contestant go above and beyond to make their costume unique?
  3. Overall - Does the costume embody the character? Did the contestant do something to make their costume stand out? What was the overall impression of the costume?

The top 5 with the highest scores will be the finalists.  After Marissa Meyer's presentation, finalists will be brought up on stage to introduce their costumes, and the winner will be chosen by audience applause.  Good luck!
