Join Red Balloon in celebrating the release of Where We Come From, the gorgeous new picture book written by Minnesota authors, Diane Wilson, Sun Yung Shin, Shannon Gibney, and John Coy!
In this unique collaboration, four authors lyrically explore where they each come from—literally and metaphorically—as well as what unites all of us as humans. Red Balloon is thrilled to get the chance to hear from all four authors as they read Where We Come From, share stories, and chat about the very special making of the book. There will be time for audience questions, followed by a signing line.
To Attend: Space is limited, so a ticket is required to attend this event. You can register for a ticket through October 4, 4:30pm, and pre-order a book below. Additional books will be available for purchase the night of the event. Face coverings are required of all guests for the duration of this event, and food and drink are not allowed. Red Balloon will have disposable masks on hand if you find yourself without.
Signing Guidelines: Following the talk, the authors will sign and personalize copies of the book. If you would prefer not to stay for the signing portion, Red Balloon is happy to have your books signed and personalized for you and will contact you when they're ready to be picked up. Please include any personalization requests in the order comments of your purchase.
Diane Wilson is an award-winning writer, speaker, and educator. Her work includes Spirit Car: Journey to a Dakota Past, Beloved Child: A Dakota Way of Life, and The Seed Keeper. Wilson is a Mdewakanton descendent, enrolled on the Rosebud Reservation.
Sun Yung Shin was born in Seoul, Korea, and is the author of the bilingual picture book Cooper's Lesson. She is also an award-winning poet and collaborative artist.
Shannon Gibney is an award-winning author of books of all kinds—from novels to anthologies to essays to picture books. She writes for adults, children, and everyone in between.
John Coy is the author of numerous picture books, including Night Driving, Hoop Genius, Game Changer, If We Were Gone, Dads, and Their Great Gift.
DION MBD is an Indonesian illustrator who has lived in Singapore and the United States. Dion is currently living in Bandung.
