Events at Red Balloon Bookshop
Red Balloon offers happenings all year long to celebrate and support authors, illustrators, and creatives from near and far! We aim to feature diverse and engaging events that will inspire, inform, and delight our community of readers. Events at Red Balloon range from regular weekly Storytimes to seasonal community events; from tour stops with bestselling authors to launch parties for new authors or illustrators celebrating their debuts. How Do I Get My Event Hosted At Red Balloon Bookshop?
As a children's bookstore, our events are primarily focused on books for young readers. Due to the large number of requests and the small size of our staff, we’re currently able to host events only with the support of traditional publishers. Red Balloon regularly promotes our upcoming events, but in many cases attendance will depend on an author's own outreach. In an industry that has been predominantly white and cis, Red Balloon especially encourages BIPOC, disabled, and/or LGBTQIA+ authors and illustrators to email event requests.
Our calendar can fill up quickly, so if you would like your book to be considered for an event at Red Balloon, please have your publisher contact us 3-6 months in advance of your book’s publication date, or the desired date of your event.
Who to Contact:
For in-store author and community events, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you're an author with a non-traditionally published book who is interested in getting your book on our shelves, you can learn more about our consignment program here. We currently do not host events for consignment titles. However, consideration may be given to authors whose work has sold well as part of our Consignment program, and the author has a forthcoming title.
